
Mr. Blum is Senior Vice President of Safety and Engineering at Universal Creative, Universal Parks and Resorts.
In his current position, Mr. Blum leads all show and ride technical activities, including attraction safety, systems design, testing, manufacturing, operations, guest communication, intellectual properties protection (patent) program, and licensee show and ride product compliance with UPR technical requirements.
Mr. Blum has extensive experience in the aerospace industry having served as Senior Research Specialist for Special Technologies and Projects at the Advanced Development Projects Division (Skunk Works), Lockheed Martin Corporation. In this position, he worked on a variety of programs including the F-22, F-117A, NASP, SR-71, and U-2/TR-1. He was responsible for hypersonic aerothermodynamics, high temperature heat transfer, and infrared low observables. His experience also includes over fifteen years in theme park engineering, including positions as Senior Project Engineer for Walt Disney Imagineering / EuroDisney Project, Director of Engineering for Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Japan Projects, Senior Director of Engineering for Universal Creative, and Vice President of Safety and Engineering for Universal Parks & Resorts.
Mr. Blum earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, New York, New York. He also completed graduate work in Mechanical Engineering and Computational Fluid Dynamics, California State University, Northridge.
